That’s right folks, I just about caught myself on fire. Poor oven mitt. The picture does not show the extent of the scariness (flame), it was a good few inches in the air and bright orange!
Luckily, my fingers came out untouched. Regardless, the sweet potato fries that were in the roasting oven (mitt touched hot coil as I was removing the tray) were delicious! Spiced up with cinnamon, season salt and pepper.
…and Reduced Sugar Heinz for dipping. Regular ketchup tastes weird to me now.
I finished off the last of the unfrozen Turkey and Vegetable Chili too.
Love love love these bowls with measurements. 1 Cup was very filling.
So, that was dinner. The first part of my day included a 1-hour treadmill interval workout with more running than walking, equaling 5 miles, 500 calories burned and lunges. Followed by a cup, or 2, of Cinnamon Joe.![]()
COLD CHOCOLATE OATS
Breakfast was a cup of oats, though no ordinary oats. My version of a super quickie breakfast cookie, not made overnight, but put in the freezer for 40 minutes to solidify.
- 1/2 C Quick Oats
- 1T Chocolate Protein Powder
- mix till crumbly
- 1/4 C milk, skim, regular
- 1/2 banana, mashed
- 1t chia seed
- 1/2 small packet (4grams) Chocolate Amazing Grass Green SuperFood
- mix and put in fridge or freezer to solidify slightly (you don’t want it liquidy)
Great chocolate flavor with TONS of protein and nutrients. Kept me full for hours!
Lunch was a Cobb Salad (chicken, barely any bacon, bell pepper, olives, egg, tomato, romaine) with FULL FAT RANCH, can you just imagine how GOOD that was?! I cannot remember the last time I had restaurant-made ranch dressing. Used proportionately, for obvious reasons, and no blue cheese. Sorry, no pics. It was tasty.
Mid-afternoon snack consisted of a Chocolate Rice Cake with Cool Whip (I do like Reddi Whip better, Cool Whip must have been on sale) and a dark chocolate heart Dove piece, which I then cut up into mini pieces and placed strategically on the rice cake so that each bite had a dark smithering of goodness! I may have indulged in a second…

Along those lines, have you heard about Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative? She is raising awareness about the skyrocketing childhood obesity rates and moving to help America’s children learn about living a healthy lifestyle through eating well and playing/moving. Melissa blogged about it today, great read. Click on LetsMove.gov for lots of interesting info.
Thanks for all your super nice comments the past few days!! To answer a few questions about driving in the snow…
- Born and raised in Michigan, there is no avoiding snow. At 16 I learned to drive in it, and learned to buy a front-wheel drive (or all-wheel drive) vehicle! I can’t say I ever get used to it, but rather embrace it
- Currently, I drive an Acura TL, it’s phenomenal in the snow, dare I say ‘fun’?
Hope you all have a great Friday tomorrow! Will try to post this weekend in between dog-sledding, tubing, snowshoeing and drinking!

Glad you didn't get hurt with the fire! Yummy sweet tater fries are so worth it, though :) Your afternoon snack looks delish...I have a whipped cream weakness too!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I LOVE your title!! Pickles are a favorite food of mine :)
Have a great weekend!
Sweet potato fries are the best!
Glad you are ok! I've burned waaaay too many things. Nothing of importance but we've definitely gone through our share of oven mits. If my husband is home when I try to take something out of the oven he always grabs it before I do. :)
Your sweet potato fries look great! I'll have to try those. I'm sure you were glad that they didn't go up in flames. I'm also going to try your Turkey Vegetable Chili. It looks really good. I recently posted a White Turkey Chili recipe that turned out great if you're ever looking for another turkey chili recipe.
Ouch! thank god you are okay! The SAME thing happened to me once lol
I just signed up for your great cookie giveaway! Thanks :)
Glad the fries turned out, even though the mit is ruined :( Last night I made a mistake in the kitchen too. I burned my arm!! There is a nasty scar now and I'm mad. It was not smart, but I guess small kitchens just can't fit two people when cooking a "gourmet" meal!
Damn lady!!! Glad you didn't go up in flames!
